My Dream Job !1!1!1

Image
My blog isn't just a review blog, it seems like... might need to rebrand soon, lol. So I'm sitting in my room in front computer right now, feeling very bloated from my dinner and the soda drink I just had, and I actually have no idea what my dream job is. I've always dreamed of having money, just not how I will make said money. I think I just pray I will manage to get my life back together at some point and get a well-paying job, or marry a rich man and be a trophy wife… Honestly, it is a fact at this point that I'm lazy. So if I'm being very frank right now, I'll probably choose something that's easy. The problem is: there isn't a job that is easy, and that equals to me being very sad. I remember asking my mom what I should be when I grow up, and she answered with “Just be a doctor!”, saying it would be nice for me to help people. Now, when I look back, I think of how that's such a generic asian parent answer, and she probably only said it because...

Duty After School (2023)

Image
Duty After School tells the story of the senior students at Sungjin High School as they are drafted to fight against the attack of a group of mysterious creatures that have covered the sky.  Imagine you're a twelve grader, and you are already stressed because of final examinations, but then mysterious creatures suddenly fall from the sky and are attacking the whole country, and now you are drafted to fight them as an 18-year-old. But don't forget, after the whole war is over, you still have to do the final examinations! Honestly, I would rather just die. This is honestly one of my favorite Korean dramas ever. I love everything about this, except for the ending, but I won't spoil it. Don't worry. One of my favorite things about this is definitely the friendship, I love how the whole class stuck together until the end, even if they weren't so close before. I guess they bonded over the trauma. All they had was each other, after all, since it was difficult to contact th...

The Silent Sea (2021)

Image
The Silent Sea is set in the future when the earth suffers from a lack of water and food caused by desertification. Han Yun-Jae is a soldier from the space agency. He is selected for a team, including Song Ji-An, a skilled scientist, to travel to the moon. Their mission is to retrieve a mysterious sample from an abandoned research station.  Sci-fi is actually one of my favorite genres! So when I discovered this series, I wanted to watch it immediately. But then I forgot about this for 2 years and finally remembered to watch it this year.    The chills I get from every episode are insane, especially every time they throw up. A group of people stranded on the moon with no way of communication is already terrifying, now add the terror of a mysterious illness that makes you throw up water and could lead you to death. I do not want to spoil too much, so if you are curious, please watch this, especially if you like dystopian, sci-fi, and suspense stuff.

Enola Holmes (2020)

Image
Enola Holmes tells the story of the famous Sherlock Holmes' younger sister, Enola Holmes. She is the youngest of three siblings and spent most of her life alone with her mother. On her sixteenth birthday, Enola wakes to find that her mother has disappeared, she is determined to find her and bring her back. We follow Enola and her adventures to find her mother as she discovers a dangerous conspiracy along the way. It wasn't actually my first time watching this, I first watched this in about 2023, and I just decided to watch it again out of boredom. It was still as fun and interesting as I remembered! I love the overall aesthetics of the movie, it has the adventure-mystery-coming-of-age mix that is absolutely perfect for 13-year-old me.  I have never watched or read Sherlock Holmes, but I don't think Enola is actually canon from the original story. But I love her character. Did you know that "Enola" is "Alone" backwards? When I first found out about that, ...

Exhuma (2024)

Image
'Exhuma' is a Korean horror movie released on February 22nd of 2024. The story follows a shaman named Hwa-rim and her mentee, Bong-gil, as they excavate an ominous grave that unleashes dreadful consequences buried underneath. I'll admit, I watched this because I liked the main actors and am familiar with them, but I wasn't expecting anything from this. I didn't watch it immediately after its release, so I saw the reviews online, and the majority of them were positive! So I was really excited and decided to watch the film in the theaters.  I came out of that theater as a different person. It's not the best horror movie of all time or anything, it's just... different. Different than what I'm used to, at least. The thing I am a bit surprised with was how there were little to no jump scares. Honestly, they didn't need any jumpscares because the monster itself was ridiculously terrifying enough, in my opinion. I think what makes this movie so great is the...

Better Days (2009)

Image
'Better Days' is a Chinese film that was released in 2009. It tells the story of a girl named Chen Nian who is bullied by her classmates. One day, she meets a mysterious young man named Xiao Bei. While she copes with the stress and pressure of her final exam, an unexpected friendship is formed between them, and Xiao Bei plays the role of protector from her bullies. I watched this because a friend of mine recommended it, it definitely did not disappoint. I was a little hesitant at first because I don't have much experience with Chinese films but I am so glad I watched this one. Honestly, I love everything about this. The main leads have great chemistry and miraculous acting, which definitely help the characters be more alive. This movie also tells you about the effects of bullying, and it is great to spread awareness of the topic. I definitely encourage you to watch this, do prepare some tissues though.
